The city of the Kings

Situated on the arid coast of Peru, Lima’s sprawling metropolitan metropolis is situated in a valley formed by the Chillon, Rimac, and Lurin rivers. The valley faces the Pacific Ocean and was formerly a part of the Incan empire in the fifteenth century, until the conquistadors overthrew them. Because of this, there are still some pre-Columbian structures in the city among its colonial landmarks and modern apartment complex façade. This accurately depicts many Peruvian cities where the ancient, old, and contemporary coexist.

Huaca Pucllana

Pyramids may not be expected amidst Peru’s ancient ruins. In the heart of Lima’s urban core is Huaca Pucllana. (“Huaca” means “pyramid” or “temple” in Quechua). It was almost lost to history before it became a majestic and famous structure. However, decades of research and conservation will allow future generations to appreciate and learn from this Peruvian treasure.
